A Romantic Weekend
"A Romantic Weekend" was a intense short story. It left me we an uneasy feeling. Beth seems very desperate for love and a companion. This automatically made me thing of "Fifty Shades of Grey". Unlike Fifty Shades of Grey, A Romantic Weekend is so detailed into what most likely sadomasochism is probably like. I find Mary Gaitskill's short stories captivating and can not wait to read some more
The stories so far
I think that unlike Flannery O'conner's book these stories are interesting. They might be a little vulgar but I think it keeps my attention. You never really know what you will read next. The one thing that I don't like so far is how inferior women are depicted. I am not a feminist or anything but I do not like stereotypes that are of women and I think that this book is talking about a lot of them. Always looking for love or someone else, very emotional, submissive etc.
